My First Week

I created this blog site a couple weeks ago but still haven't got around to making a post so I thought it was about time! Here's a quick recap of my first week.

I started off frustrated in Buffalo airport as I apparently packed over 50lb too much! I would have been charged $450 so I had to go through my suitcases and take out 50lb worth of stuff! Not exactly what I had in mind at 4am the morning of my departure!

I arrived in Atlanta for my layover before flying out to Tegucigalpa. I was starting to feel a little nervous and unsure of leaving home until I met three other teachers in the airport! We all happened to be sitting by each other and figured out we were all teaching at IST! That definitely eased my nerves and I was suddenly more comfortable with everything.

We arrived in Tegucigalpa and met another 20 or so teachers at the airport. We all threw our suitcases into a schoolbus and were dropped off to our new houses! I love my house and my new roomates Kaitlyn and Nichole. I will post pics of our house soon!

The next few days of our first week was orientation of the school, a 3 hour shopping trip to get groceries and household items, and exploring the city.

On Monday I finally got the keys to my classroom! It was such an awesome feeling to just stand there and look at my classroom and being so grateful to God for fulfilling this dream that I have had for as long as I can remember. The rest of this week included setting up my classroom and attending various school orientation meetings.
